Kiel is transit port in the international ferry traffic. The Port of Kiel is characterized by capable port facilities, excellent hinterland-connections and offers all opportunities for passenger- and cargo traffics.
Scandinavia
The large modern ferries on Scandinavias route are traditionally located in Kiel.
There are daily departures to Oslo and Gothenburg with passenger/cargo ferries from the modern city-centre terminals Schwedenkai and Norwegenkai, providing optimal routes for passengers and rolling cargo with overnight connection to Scandinavia.
Eastern Europe and Russia
All the routes from Kiel to Russia and the Baltic States are concentrated in the Ostuferhafen, which is the largest part of the port.  Liner services with Ro-Ro and Lo-Lo vessels operate from there to St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad, and Ro-Pax ships to Klaipeda. |
